Given the VC-25A (aka Air Force One) has mid-air refueling capabilities, I wonder how often the Air Force does training for the two aircraft.

Phenomenal perspective!
Keith Brown
@David Plummer Oh I'm sure they do, probably under a SAM callsign (Special Air Mission) and in a Warning Area off the coast. Purely speculation on my part, but the Air Force doesn't do anything without training for it constantly, especially with that aircraft's and crew's mission, and like anything in aviation (military or civilian) there are currency requirements.

@Keith Brown - Agreed. Speculation, but it does make me wonder given there are only two VC-25A aircraft. So far as I have observed, there has never been a public acknowledgement of refueling with the President onboard. The upcoming VC-25B will not have the capability given a certain President "renegotiating" the development of the new aircraft. So it just leaves me wondering if they really spend time with the actual aircraft.

That certain president: The one with the orange makeup?

Very interesting configuration. Stood beneath a refueling operation directly over Sunlight Creek in NW Wyoming about 5 months ago. Thought I'd never see this again but low and behold...Thanks!

David Plummer: Or maybe the walking dead guy wearing mortician makeup.

I believe whenever VC-25 takes Prez anywhere an. E-4 is prepositioned to the nearest AFB. The flag is transfered to the E-4 in the event of hostilities due to the E-4's increased electronic capability so Prez can make real-time decisions.
