Not being critical in any way, just asking, but are you able to scan from negatives?
Gavin, Thank you for your question, and it is a good question. I'd be the first to admit that these photos scanned from prints look terrible. A lot has to do with this site I believe. the prints are always much sharper...but not sure why they get softened up so much when I post them. I admit the colors have faded on the prints over time, as you might expect. I do not have have a good scanner, and it cant scan the 35mm negatives. Its just the flat glass surface. The problem really is time, and volume. I probably have a couple hundred thousand prints from 35mm negatives stored in the basement in storage tubs, on top of 600K+++ digital images...and still have to work, and everything. One of these days, if I win the lottery and can retire, and buy a good 35mm scanner, it would be a full time job to catalog it all. Thank you for your feedback.
You guys put me to shame with the number of pics you have but even with far less, and even being retired, finding time is a challenge with all the life necessities to take care of. How did I find the time to go to work?
If you're interested, Epson make some superb scanners capable of doing slides and negatives, especially their scanners that come with Silverfast software. Mine's a V800.
