McDonnell Douglas FA-18 Hornet (16-4203)
This departure shot of 164203, the VMFAT-101 "Sharpshooters" Hornet in which USMC Maj Christopher is the instructor pilot occupying the "back seat," catches the F/A-18D with burners lit as it begins its takeoff roll down runway 34R as part of a Flight Of Three headed for Phoenix. In the pic I posted just before this one, they had arrived using the call sign "Shooter One Two" because there had only been two Bugs travelling together, but while they were here a third "Sharpshooters" Hornet landed from Missoula and when the three of them all departed, the call sign used by instructor Christopher was "Shooter One Tree."

Obviously not the ultra-best quality snap. This was as close as I was permitted to get as the three F-18s positioned next to each other on 34R for takeoff and unfortunately it was not the perfect location. Instead of being behind me, the sun was high to my left. The temp out on the runway was just under 100 F, and it became a whole lot hotter when the abs lit up. However, I was able to get the city of Reno skyline in the background, and despite the less-than-premier quality of this click, I want it in my FA folder to go along with the other two pics of Maj Christopher's return to his hometown in an F/A-18.
Still, pretty nice!
awesome shot Gary, 5 stars in my book
