A trio of rare Stearman Aircraft Model 4 Speedmails pass overhead in formation and are beginning a left break maneuver in order to come around and land on Carson City (Nevada) Airport's runway 27. In this late afternoon shot, NC485SW a Speedmail Model 4DM Senior piloted by Addison Pemberton, is banking away from the group as NC667K, a Stearman Speedmail Model 4E Junior, and NC489W hold formation a moment longer.
SPECIAL NOTE - These aircraft are enroute to San Diego where they will begin a reenactment of the first government airmail flight in America which took place on May 15, 1918. For five days beginning on May 13th, they will be flying United States mail from San Diego to Seattle. They will make several stops along the way. ** ATTN "Alien" >>> Tom, they will be stopping in Redding. ** ATTN Tim Crippin >>> They will be stopping at Medford. ** ATTN Leland S. >>> Their last stop is at Paine.
