Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (G-BEDF)
Sally B coming-in for a Rwy heading pass at RIAT17.
Comments
Engines 1 and 2 definitely have cylinder issues. Way too much exhaust smoke.
Thanks for looking and your comment Larry. The oil smoke is from a canister to show a simulated engine fire just for display.
MAYDAY, MAYDAY! We're coming down! Oh wait, this is an airshow, never mind!
I read Memphis Belle on nose art, not Sally B
Frank Kaiser... G-BEDF wears a "dual" identity. She's "Sally B" on the port side and "The Memphis Belle" on her starboard side!
Yup...dual identity, thanks for your comments guys.
That's not the Memphis Bell, the picture here is a G model. The Bell was F.
Whatever her name is, that's a fantastic picture!
On a related note, if you're interested in an interesting WW2 story of a B-17, Google "B-17 ball turret found in Italian lake" or "Ileen Lois". It was my father-in-law's plane. He was the copilot.
