I'm kind of surprised they didn't sync the props on the Lancaster.
Is it possible to "sync the props"?
With respect; that still-shot of the props doesn't necessarily have anything to w/their being sync'd. In those days we set desired cruise man pres and RPM......then sinc'd by fine adjusting based upon sound and feel. Real simple; and totally effective
I dont normally sync props, not counting getting it close by feel and sound, until im well into the climb. they look like they just took off. you would turn prop sync off during maneuvers anyway.
Two classic planes each in their time !
John Taylor, your comments are on the money. My experience with reciprocating piston engines corresponds with yours. Marrying manifold air pressure and rpm is all about feel and sound and sight(the gauges) it's not much different than musicians knowing when their particular instrument is in tune or out. Cheers
