Nice article. It doesn't appear this will amount to anything bigger than it already is.

Engineering made some holes, and maintenance sealed them up. I don't think they read the instructions.

Reminds me of the dairyman from China who observed the cheese making process in Switzerland and reported home that he saw what they were doing wrong, and that he could produce the cheese without the holes in it.

"The difference in air pressure was put down to Boeing Co.'s faulty maintenance as two small holes on the container -- necessary for air ventilation to prevent overheating -- were mistakenly sealed when it repaired the battery system"

I would have thought that a problem like that would have shown up in testing before Boeing delivered the updated unit to JAL.

I'm always amazed at the slack built into scheduling - that they could wheel out another plane capable and ready for a long-haul flight, and only delay by 1 hour. I always thought that the planes were worked as hard as possible. There must be a lot of jets out there on 'ready alert' !

Yea, I'm more or less human and I still get the occasional 'hey man'....

Does anyone know what the tail number was?

Why Japanese air lines buy 787, and really don't complain? I think there is a connection between how much of 787 plain parts are made in Japan. Air plain sales and government interventions are common , it happened with ANA and Locheed Tristar, in 70s

Just WTF is going on in Seattle? Boeing have become a third world corporation. If I was working for Boeing I would be heading for the door. Which self respecting engineer would want to work for a bunch of of baked Neanderthal kite builders.

I agree with Phil Rudd - make them buy Airbus - let them make a profit. Dont sell them BOINGS to sit on the ground and look good!!!!. Geez, what an attitude.

It's BOEINGS, not BOINGS. At least you spelled Airbus right.

I think that was intentional BW, hence the CAPS.

I agree....BOINGS does have a ring to it !

Why? I've never met anyone who was honored to buy a Toyota.

Ehh, they all look the same anyway.... (sorry, had to do it)

I prefer to assume that you were referring to Toyotas and Nissans.

....Datsuns....?
StymieHo
Chris Donawho 2
Datsuns... Totally forgot about those. And yes David, it was a reference to all Japanese cars, with full knowledge it would be construed the other way. Yet somehow Phil still kicked the crap out of me on negative votes.
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 -1
I up voted you. I don't like jap cars. Lol

Really? Come on, don't say "jap". Using ethnic slurs to describe a car is pretty darn insensitive. Say, "Japanese built piece of garbage" or something along those lines. Then at least you say what you mean. Instead of just sounding racist.
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 4
I didn't infer they are garbage. I said I didn't like them. And I do not have to be PC correct. PC is garbage.
StymieHo
Chris Donawho 2
I feel we are barking up the wrong tree here. The term Jap is simply a shorter version of Japanese. I'm from Texas and have half Mexican kids. You don't see me playing race cards when people say Tex-Mex... People need to grow up and quit getting their panties in a wad over this senseless shit.
StymieHo
Chris Donawho 3
Now, if Wallace decides to sound off about cars made by Zipperheads.... Well then I think we can say he crossed the line. Jap is completely harmless, IMHO.
WALLACE24
WALLACE24 3
All these so called slur words don't mean the user is racist or a hater. If someone calls me a redneck hillbilly it doesn't mean they hate me and what's more is I don't care. Ever hear of "sticks and stones"? People need to get past this PC crap.
Rodster001
Rod Collen -1
I respectfully disagree.
StymieHo
Chris Donawho 2
Well, then I guess I need to raise all holy hell on people who use the term Tex-Mex. Man, eating out will never be the same. I really liked that food too.

WALLACE24

Whoa! That's gettin' serious. I'm not giving up taco bender or jap food. Lol.

Respectfully, you are dead wrong.

Well here Rod, let me enlighten you. There are several google returns of Jap Auto Pro locations in Florida. Guess what kind of cars they specialize in? JAP CARS!!!!

But Florida is for tourists... let's go somewhere with adventure.... Austraila. Down Under you will find JAP AUTO PARTS and JAP this and JAP that, as the term JAP is not derogatory.

Now for lunch today, I'm headed to a little buffet at Ninja Sushi. Guess what kind of food they have? Wallace - Drum Roll Please.....
