PHILADELPHIA INT'L AIRPORT - May 22, 2012 (WPVI) -- A runway at Philadelphia International Airport was briefly closed on Tuesday afternoon after a pilot on approach reportedly saw a smoke trail and felt a blast.
The FAA tells Action News that U.S. Airways Flight 4321 from Elmira-Corning Regional Airport was on final approach when the pilot saw something coming from the ground with a smoke trail.
The pilot said something seemed to detonate off the right side of the plane, but didn't hit the plane.
