Two American travelers to Canada fined $16,000 each for fake vaccination documents

Enviado

Canadian officials have charged two American travelers and fined them 20,000 Canadian dollars each - around $16,000 USD - for providing fake COVID-19 vaccination documents. The unnamed travelers arrived from the U.S. in Canada the week of July 18. Officials from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) fined each traveler four times for a total of 19,720 CAD per traveler. (www.foxnews.com) Más...

Hey buddy, , , , have no faith in science? Get off the political high-horse and do what is scientifically (mot politically) prudent. What would your position be if your child gets infected? ? ? Crickets . . . . . The world has to swallow its political pride to eradicate the pandemic. JUST DO YOUR PART!

Tim Dyck -2
Masks are not scientifically prudent. SARS-CoV-2 is an airborne virus and if you look up the specs on whatever mask your using then unless your using a fitted Respirator with HEPA 10 or better filter your mask is just a placebo. Now get off your high horse!

What happened to scientific education in America? A mask doesn't protect YOU, it protects other people from you. Every time you breath out a huge cloud of water droplets are released into the aid. If you are infected the virus will be on every one of those droplets. The mask captures almost all of those droplets so if your sick with or without symptoms people around you are safe from YOU

The point is more so about doing anything that contributes - even if it is emotionally beneficial to others. I have difficulty during these times, in understanding people looking for reasons to support "why not" than for reasons "why".

Anyway, the last post from me on this galvanizing topic. Moving on.

actually you did not. All health organizations recommend masks....ALL of them. Ill trust the scientists and doctors over your D in high school biology.

Perfect example of poor quality reporting flooding the Internet. Because the story mentions that the two travelers had arrived from the United States, everyone jumped to the conclusion that they were Americans. They were,in fact, Canadian citizens, as originally reported by the more reputable print news sources, quoting Canadian health officials.

Way to go, Fox, et al.
hulakai
Kevin Holly 16
The article and headline specifically stated that they were Americans so I don't think anyone "jumped to conclusions"....and while it's true that they are Canadian citizens that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't Americans also. Plenty of people have dual citizenship. Given they submitted their fake docs a month before travel I don't think they're just Canadians returning from a vacation.

But ya Fox is a pos.

The official Canadian press release doesn't provide the nationality of the travelers. I could see how anyone just looking at that report would translate "two passengers arriving in Toronto from the United States the week of July 18, 2021" into "two Americans..."

This is sloppy and disappointing journalism. (But the uninformed comments are humorous.)

I know the attempt was to highlight "$$ for fake vaccination documents" related to international travel, but when incomplete or incorrect supported statements are made about Canada's travel requirements, it puts even the headline in question.

If there was ever a time to report accurately about international travel; this is it. Unless that wasn't the point...

Don't fake those documents, especially in Canada. People can get away with it, largely, in this country, but it's serious as brain cancer to more responsible governments. It's embarrassing that someone from here would try to do this. Yikes... America, continuing to be a world embarrassment every day...

Off base and selective comment "doctor" In terms of your statement "In Canada with social (and over all poor) healthcare" , , , , the reality is the quality of care is equal to the US or any 1st world country. Do we have wait list issues? Sure BUT the proof which indicates that your statement is either uninformed or biased is in the following facts "doctor": Average life expectancy Males: US = 76 / Canada = 80. Females: US = 81 / Canada = 84. Not sure how "over all poor" applies.

And to further support your perspective , , , 44% of American households have guns. Canada? 25%. Houston? we have a problem.
TimDyck
Tim Dyck 4
Were did you find that statistic? I live in Canada and there is a lot more then 25% of households with guns. We just use them for hunting instead of shooting up schools.
21voyageur

It's called the internet. Your view may apply outside of urban environments where most "hunters and hunting takes place". Urban environments in Canada represent >80% of the population. Again - the internet which has many valid sources of data.

Robert Cowling 2
The statistics I've read show that actually Canada has more guns, per person, than America does. Canada does, however, have strong gun laws, and if you violate them, there are real consequences. Canada also does not have a lobbying group wagging their government, a sycophantic legislative branch climbing all over each other to prove how 'butch' they are, and a media organism that fetishes gun ownership, and gun use.

There are so many movies that I can't watch anymore due to the indiscriminant gun usage. For decades, Hollyweird has portrayed guns as being inaccurate and people spraying bullets everywhere, missing their intended target. Sure, it's possible to miss someone if you are shooting at them, but some movies stretch that to incredulity! You shoot hundreds of rounds of ammo at something, and miss on every one? IMPOSSIBLE! But it portrays guns as being 'safe' by missing not only the intended victim, but everyone, and everything in the path of that fusillade. As in smoking, Hollyweird is guilty in marketing reckless gun use as well.

But keep thinking that Canada is a backwards third world nation. I'm sure that Canada will be laughing all the way to the bank, as they overtake America on the world stage.

Please cite your source for the statement "Canada has more guns, per person, than America". That is not (or no longer) correct. Search "Estimated number of civilian guns per capita by country" on Wikipedia and it shows America is number one. While the rest of your comments in the first paragraph may be true, what Canada does not have is a Constitutional Amendment permitting civilian gun ownership. Canada may not be backwards, but they still pay fealty to a monarch for goodness sake.

As for Hollywood, they continue to show their hypocrisy by making public service announcements demonizing guns and then turn around and glamorize them in movies like John Wick. If they really cared, they could simply stop making movies with gun violence. Good luck with that.

Oh,,,, you are either a funny or twisted man! Assuming the latter, the USA formula for success that you mention simply does not apply to Canada (or for most of the world for that matter) as we have not reached the tipping point of tribal dynamics that requires a Mad-Max type society to survive. Sure we have our problems but we are far from that tipping point. An indicator of interest in this area may be incarceration per 100,000 where Canada has a rate of 107 while the USA is 639 per 100k. That is 6 times less than the USA which, by the way, is the #1 country in the world - #1 in the world - by far. Silver and Bronze positions go to El Salvador and Turkmenistan.

Yep, the real topic involves these postmodern Typhoid Marys helping to spread the worst pandemic of our lifetime…. Goaded on by selected media, really smart (not) tv evangelists, and assorted conspiracy theorists who have about as much knowledge of science-based medical practice as the bedspread guy. What a mess really because it didn’t have to be this way.

FOX NEWS IS THE SOURCE. Any surprise this tabloid-type network, ambushed by right-wing wackos, is simply making BS noise to feed their ravenous zombie followers in the USA? Sad example of the schism that currently runs deep in the states. That said, this site has some work to do as well in terms of what it posts. Come on folks, do at least a bit of due diligence, or are you also looking to generate volumes - at any cost?

The take away lesson here is not to violate laws, whether you agree with them or not, especially when travelling internationally.
TimDyck

That is very true. Breaking the law in Canada you will get punishment similar or more lax then the USA. Breaking the law in some countries could lead to very harsh punishments.
