I wonder why they waited so many years to finally "punish" Asiana.

This route is very popular, this could/will add up.

Punishment took so long because of appeals by the airline. Since the accident was entirely due to pilot error, punishing the airline and the passengers who are not going to be able to fly during the suspension seems silly. If the airline is to be punished, make them pay for more pilot training. That benefits everyone.

Hmmm. I think 45 days of pilot training and/or cockpit resource management training would be a better "punishment". This accident was (basically) caused by the Asian custom of "deference to an elder."

Just enough time to take a 777 out of service for a D check.

The government of South Korea, great job on the decision.

This will give them time while the A380 is repaired. It caught fire on the ramp while refueling at Incheon.
