It's retirement for Capt. Robert Piché of Air Transat 236 fame
Robert Piché of Air Transat 236 fame had his last flight, Rome to Montréal, for Air Transat on October first. He will do one last spin, from Montréal to Québec City and back, as a benefit flight for the foundation that carries his name. (www.facebook.com) Más...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Interesting guy went from marijuana smuggler to folk hero after gliding his A-330 into the Azores after fuel was exhausted due to an improperly installed valve over the Atlantic. Even though as usual the pilots got part of the blame, it is looks like he enjoyed another 16 years of international flying with the company until his retirement. Congratulations on a successful and interesting career after surpassing Captain Bob Pearson for the Canadian record for the longest glide in a twin aisle aircraft.
Canucks seem relatively adept with twin aisle 400,000 lb. gliders. Your reference to the Gimli is duly noted.
He will continue giving conferences and work for his foundation that raises funds to help fight alcoholism and other dependencies, a battle he knows well from personal experience.
