Times like this are when I miss Wayne Bookout. I'd ask how long these beacons are capable of lasting before they in effect, run out of power. Preacher would in turn politely provide the answer in the hopes of educating me. Now, I feel as though if I ask the same question, a troll will bite my head off. ELT Prox 48 hours. FDR up to 30 days. Conditions where boxes are, will effect duration. Colder temps will deplete batteries quicker.

False alert. It was a ELT broadcast that was picked up at the time of loss.
