In my USAF days as a flight medic, I was with the NET in 68 when that one went down up in Greenland. FE threw a jacket over the heater in back and started a fire. Pilot just kept passing over the field as the crew bailed. They said on the last run that he pointed it off to the side and him and his right seat guy went out the back door too. Way they were talking he could have landed it, but as the saying goes, we weren't there.I was just in on the cleanup crew as he had 4 weapons on board. They were all recovered intact but we had to skim off 6" of snow off about 500 acres off that dry lake bed, put it in 55 gallon drums and had a whole fleet of C141 starlifters in there on about 30 minute headways, loading for Hanford.
