Yeah, all that has been rampant and with the underneath covered you can't really tell from that either. They have all that blocked with propaganda slogans but are covering the part that would end a lot of the speculation. That feeds the mockup fire.

If they shot it down you would at least see some damage and burn marks....Just something to make them look powerful.

I can't help but wonder if we landed it there due to problems or maybe crash landed it and planned or where in debate to send in a seal team to destroy or recover it.

For having crashed, it looks like it is in perfect shape. Especially since, according some sources, that the Iranians shot it down. The US Government has admitted it is a CIA operation. Question being, who was it really spying on? The Government says Afghanistan but it would be unusual to use this type of spy drone for there. IMHO - it was Iran they were looking at.

agree, definatly iran we were looking at. As far as shot it down, i wish they would stated what they say brought it down. Electronic warfare is something that needs to be considered. Losing contact with a drone usually means it returning to its launched point. (Know globel hawk feature) EMP technology would make since...Unknown facts

I find it interesting that there are no shots of the landing gear from the Iranians. I have found a single still from a video feed that shows a flight control surface, but it's the port flaperon in the up position.

Given that there are no photos of the RQ-170 available that give any real size reference, there is no way of knowing whether this is real based solely on the images from Iranian state television. Even if the aircraft came down in a flat spin, there should still be a substantial amount of damage visible in the images provided.

I've ridden on AA Super 80s that have seen worse days than whatever is in that picture. Crashed? Shot down? I don't know. The gubbernment is sure acting like it's real but it doesn't look like that thing crashed anywhere to me.
MANBOI

That thing doesn't look very stealthy starting with the color.

Our spooks know if that's real or not. IF it is real and we had a real leader we would say "Give it back by noon tomorrow or we'll start carpet bombing the places we think you're hiding it. Starting with Mahmoud's homes." Iran doesn't have to worry.

I too was suspicious of the color. Yellowish?!?! The spy drones (and a lot of other aircraft) use a dull gray paint that is special in absorbing radar energy.

For them to have built a mockup (which I think it is) in that short of time is also strange and suspicious. So why did they build it?

As for carpet bombing, just a precision guided weapon would be all that is necessary. Like a cruise missile which can find the front door if necessary.

Nothing wins the hearts of the people like the site of a fleet of B-52s dropping thousands of bombs.

Well, it ain't that far from Diego Garcia and I like the idea of carpet bombing too.LOL

Only completely blind dumbats would believe that this WASN'T a spy operation on Iran. I would expect my government to spy on them considering they are trying to build nuclear weapons.

I believe that the drone was jammed, with the same technology the North Koreans used, provided by yours truly, CHINA.

China gets to analyze our technology while helping out an ally (IRAN).

Who knows how they got the drone, but for sure as hell it wasn't shot down, it did not crash. It would have damage if it fell from higher than 50K feet.
dbrooks84
David Brooks 0
They can jam the radio link, maybe, assuming it is not coming from a satellite in orbit above it. I don't they anyone can take control unless they have extremely good and sophisticated systems. First off, all data to and from the drone is encrypted and assume a minimum of triple DES.

Unless they had data about all of this (a spy in the RQ-170 program), you would have to commit a large amount of effort (money) to do take over a drone while in flight.

There is no doubt in my mind, that Iran was the subject for this drone. If you can believe the story coming out of the Government, they "lost" control of the drone for a period of time. What does this mean? Government double talk.

There were no pictures of the bottom of the "drone" in the pictures. In my mine, it was a mockup. Was it built hastily or something nefarious they were up to.

I heard,(un-official) that it landed there with a virus in the computer to screw up their stuff?

Thanks Russia again for selling these idiots technology to make this happen! Remember the headlines many weeks ago involving infiltration and virus into drone software?

Or . . . maybe the Iranians decided to use their "imagination" to create propaganda in retaliation to what they believe was false propaganda involving Iran’s QUDS FORCE OPERATIVES in the Saudi Arabian Ambassador’s assassination plot. Iran refers to it as psychological warfare. Any take on this?

Well, duh. Basic question: "Is one of ours MISSING?"

Doesn't the US military even have an inventory sheet of these multi-million dollar machines they can check off? If they can all be accounted for, then it's fake. If not, then yes, they have one.

Can we please move on?

Well let the fool like me chime in.I went to an airshow at Andrews AFB once and the F-35 was on static.I being the fool insisted it was the real flying aircraft for it looked so good and you could walk to within 6 foot of it.I was posting and bragging ( like a fool ) how I seen it.Well come to find out it had been sent in via truck and assembeled by Lockheed the day before. My point is this , I worked in aviation 25 years and thought I knew something but didnt. To tell the truth I think it is impossible to tell.Cant wait to see whats up with it.

I recently read a comment by a teenager. He asked (as today's hi tech youths can) why the drone did not have a DESTRUCT feature built in to it so that if the Drone somehow got out of it's handler's control, it would self-destruct thereby neutralizing any foreign agency's power to access its systems.
DUH - high priced scientists and engineers, please take note!

right on.That would be the option for sure..Like they say , leave it to a kid.I bet my Grandson game has that featue but with the cost cutting measures now that is probably their excuse !!!!

In WW2 both the axis and allies painted up their own aircraft in adversory markings, or used a captured enemy plane if one was available, specifically for newsreel propaganda.

OK - where are the sat images of the crash site that the Washington crowd have claimed? One still from orbit would show the damage and a follow up to show that the wreckage is still in the boonies. That would end the debate. Or maybe the actual wreckage image would show more stealth tech than whatever is in the hands of Iran now.

Cool banners, It looks like a model and pristine to have been shot down or even landed. May be they want to fix it for us before they give it back because they have a graeter sense of what's right....yea, sure. You know we use Santa as a cover for serveilance.
meeverett

Just speculation, but is it not possible that the CIA has given them the drone. I just figure, why not let the subject of your spying do all the dirty work of carrying it around to super-secret installations and showing it to big players. All the while it's collecting data, i.e., bugged.

You mean "military intelligence"? As in "Weapons of Mass Destruction military intelligence"??

HOW ABOUT A TROJAN HORSE....YEA!
preacher1
preacher1 0
Well, it has yet to be determined how they got it, as the photo sure doesn't look like it crashed, but CBS(12/12/11)Ening news just showed our fearless leader saying that it was ours, and they ought to give it back. There are slang words for that attitude that really can't be used in an open forum like this but they aren't nice. Lack of gonads and fear of offending his Muslim brothers come to mind but that's just my opinion.I go with one of the comments below, give it back by noon tomorrow or start the carpet bombing. a smart bomb would work if they knew for sure where it was, and the idea that it might be a trojan horse could be truthful as well. At any rate they have it.

it was probably just a test to see how up to date their radar systems are....probably to see what equipment we or Nato would be able to get in and out of the country safely and be able to deny any evolvemnet in their reactors going up in smoke.
