Air Force One Will Get Trump’s Preferred “Patriotic” & Gold Livery

Submitted
It has been confirmed that part of the fleet of planes used for Air Force VIP transport will progressively be getting a new paint scheme. Perhaps most significantly, keep in mind that Trump will soon be getting a new Boeing 747-8 that will act as Air Force One, which was a gift from Qatar. (onemileatatime.com) More...

Air Force One was painted in its iconic light blue and white color scheme in the early 1960s at the request of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Check your history please. This was about a woman's choice.

Exactly — It’s had that paint scheme since I was a little kid. I like it okay but it’s the only one I’ve ever seen. Saw it in person twice — once with LBJ and once with Carter, at the airport in Beaumont, TX.

I’m not personally a fan of the current President, but I like this paint scheme. Who suggested it has nothing to do with it. It looks American, to me! That thin gold stipe in no way detracts from the red, white, and blue.

And designed by famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy, whose designs ranged from the Lucky Strike packages, to interiors of Skylab and British Airways' Concorde jets, Shell Oil logo (still in use today) Wedgwood china, and many other things.

I like airplanes: seeing them, learning about them, flying on them, hearing them-night or day. I like the people that build them, wash them, fly them, and the people that look up in the sky and wish they were on that plane. That is why I like this site. I wish it was kept that way.
MichaelDealey
Unfortunately, you have to listen to a bunch of TDS victims freaking out over a thin gold stripe on a plane otherwise sporting the colors of the American flag (that in itself is probably an acute trigger for most of these people).

A gold stripe no different or any more prominent than what's been on every AF1 for decades -- but because it's Trump's AF1, it's secrete code for "communist dictator" and therefore a crises we must all discuss ad nauseam.
Comanchero24
Jim Wallace 5
I used to think TDS was just a political barb meant to antagonize. I’m now sensing it can actually be a real thing. Going berserk over a gold stripe that 99.99% of people will never be close enough to see really lends itself towards something different. I just can’t make myself get too excited over an airplane stripe.

MichaelDealey
My god, you don't even know what TDS is, do you? Seems you've whimsically reversed it's meaning to suit yourself. Definition from Wikipedia:

"Trump derangement syndrome (TDS) is a pseudoscientific pejorative term used to describe negative reactions to U.S. president Donald Trump that are characterized as irrational and disconnected from Trump's actual policy positions."

Trump supporters don't have TDS.

Nice projection there! All your arguments are merely projection and propaganda, nothing more. All cults behave like this. You need a “charismatic” leader, one who can do no wrong and you cannot question and must bend the knee.
History shows cults and their leaders don’t usually end well. Reminder: Manson, Jim Jones, David Koresh, Warren Jeffs to name a few……
MichaelDealey
Yes, I remember them. I also remember a charismatic leader who could do no wrong that carried out drone strikes against his own citizens and smuggled weapons, cash, and uranium to our enemies in the middle east. Not to mention a lot of guns to the cartels.

TDS victims? If that what anyone is that doesn't want a convicted felon, blatant grifter, and liar extraordinaire for President?

I wonder if the interior will be as gaudy as the gold-festooned Oval Office?
MichaelDealey
Michael Dealey -2
Oh, the "convicted felon" card again? You mean the convictions from that sham trial where the judge prevented almost all evidence from the defense to even be presented? Or where the jury was divided up and given different aspects of the case to deliberate, and could then render a guilty verdict without having to agree on anything?

If that trial had been conducted the same way against Obama or Biden, the media would have been apoplectic, pointing out how it violated all norms of criminal proceedings and was a blatant violation of the constitution, and you would have been in 100% agreement. Democrat double standards are astounding.

Mark my words, that trial will end up being thrown out, the verdicts overturned, and judge Merchan will be disbarred. He ignored the huge conflict of interest he had in the case, where his daughter stood gain financially from the proceedings and outcome of the trial, but didn't think that was a reason to recuse himself. When the backlash over that decision hit, he simply placed a gag order on the topic.

Of course those kinds of standards are never of any concern the media when it involves a Democrat.

alex hidveghy 1
Card? It’s on record! No way you can deny what happened. Only the SCOTUS, which is supposed to be independent, saved him and gave immunity. Otherwise his ass would already be in jail! I love yoyr projections, BTW, you're almost as desperate as trump himself!
I suppose you’re a fan of other MAGATS like Rudy Tooty, pillow guy and other lawyers who plead guilty, too? Where are they all now, huh?
And how come 64 frivolous lawsuits were tossed out? That’s how great you folks are, incompetent and laughable.
MichaelDealey
Yes, I can deny it. As I asked you below -- What crime was Trump charged with? What law on the books did he break? I don't want to know what indictments were brought against him, that's not the same thing. Indictments require an underlying charge. What was it?
alexa320
alex hidveghy 3
Funny you talk about “communists”
Yet, in the past we had trump actually saluting a NK general while visiting his “boyfriend”, Kim. If I’m not mistaken, that person was a communist and runs an authoritarian state shunned by the rest of the world.
Then, we have trump putting his effigy everywhere this year from the Kennedy Center, to the DOJ Building. This is the kind of thing that Communist states have done for decades!
As you say, communist bad, so why is trump acting like one? It’s truly bizarre and how many on the right don’t see the extreme iirony, if not hypocrisy…….the mind boggles.
MichaelDealey
Michael Dealey -2
Why wouldn't he Salute Kim Jung Un in his own country? Trump was a guest, and it was a diplomatic talk meeting.

Did you notice that all of the ballistic missile tests and threats against the US stopped after that trip? Why wouldn't (or *couldn't*) Obama have handled that before leaving office?

The British Royals and Churchhill saluted Hitler. It's called being diplomatic. Hell, we even have photos of the Royal family practicing the Nazi Salute. So your point? Once again, it's just because "Trump did it" so, it's suddenly unprecedented.

And why are you worried about that Trump banner? It's a better look than this Nazi-esque performance was "https://www.amazon.ca/ConversationPrints-PHILADELPHIA-SPEECH-GLOSSY-PICTURE/dp/B0BCZYT6KM"

Michael Dealey -2
Yes it was "all the rage" and it's been an absolute disaster. No one bucked it because they're all owned and controlled by the people who implemented the plan to gut the American middle class and turn this country into a 3rd world nation -- and every single president since Carter has just gone along with it, until Trump.

And yes, it was a *planned* destruction. I suggest you watch this clip below until at lest the 1:30 mark. Watching all of it would do you more good, if you have the attentions span, to learn something you obviously know nothing about.

In fact, all of your rants seem to showcase just how much you don't know about anything when it comes to the big picture. All of your jabs sound like hollow sound-bytes plucked from a left-wing tabloid. They have no substance. They're just expedient, uninformed "gotchyas" that don't hold up.

There's a reason the whole world seemingly turned on Trump overnight when it became clear he was serious about running for President. He's an existential threat to the carefully constructed system of control, set up by a bunch of unelected, psychopathic, billionaire busy bodies, who think you're too stupid to manage your own life, that you're a thorn in the side of their existence and an obstacle standing in the way of their plans. They look at you like cattle.

Sorry, I just don’t like failed business men who stiff contractors, get impeached twice while in office in just the first term, cry for years about losing an election, calls everyone who he disagrees with a loser, speaks like an adolescent and is convicted by a jury of his peers of 34 felonies and gets a pass from SCOTUS and continues to denigrate most people including some of his own!
You obviously don’t have a problem with any of that, right??
MichaelDealey
That's because you let the corporate media do your thinking for you. Their confidence rating is at 28%. So 72% of Americans no longer believe the media is telling them truth.

As I said, you have no idea as to what's really happening right now, and apparently, you couldn't be bothered to watch and *understand* the clips I posted. All you see is the shallow, surface-level BS, thinking that's the whole story.

It's funny, all my life I heard people say "Why can't politicians just say what they really mean. You never know what they're thinking". Now that we've got one, everyone hates it. It just proves that people don't really want the truth. They only care about personalities and being told what they want to hear.

FYI, I don't really like Trump's personality most of the time, but that 's not why I voted for him. I look at him like a platoon commander. Do you want a people pleaser leading you into battle or someone who's going to keep you from getting you ass blown off?

I've worked for a couple of bosses who I couldn't stand but you know what? Our departments ran smoothly, we got things done, and we were successful. Everyone benefited when bonus time rolled around.

Yes, I'm okay with everything you listed because Trump's right about all of it, and he's been unfairly attacked and prosecuted for absolutely nothing. Tell me, what was the underlying charge that resulted in 34 felony convictions? Not the individual counts brought by the prosecutor, but the underlying charge -- you know, the law on the books he violated. I'll save you a little time, you won't find it because there isn't one. That was the most blatant violation of the constitution and due process of the last century. Crimes require a victim.

And the impeachments were a joke. Impeached for talking to foreign leader on the phone. That's it -- unless you believe the made-up version of the phone call presented by Adam Schiff on the house floor. Seemed like a good plan until Trump released the transcript. Now where did the hacked DNC server eventually end up? Oh that's right, it was sent to Cloudstrike in Ukraine. No wonder the democrats panicked.

Maybe you don't remember, but the democrats were talking about impeaching Trump before he even took office. How does that work? Impeached for what exactly? Getting elected as an outsider? Yeah, that was the real problem. He wasn't one of *them* and they knew it.

Leaving politics aside, and leaving aside that the sitting president can and has chosen whatever livery he wants for the VIP transport, I actually don't mind the new colour scheme. But I thought there was real utility in having the bottom half of the aircraft in reflective silver or light blue colours, particularly as it concerned anti-flash and anti-heat protection in the event of nuclear blasts. The new scheme clearly doesn't incorporate that function. Is it an acknowledgement that in the event of a nuclear exchange, such protection has no practicality? Everyone, including the U.S. president, will just be bending over and kissing their asses goodbye in a nuclear apocalypse.

Like many I've grown up seeing the 60's livery on all of the 747's, 757's, 737's, and some Gulfstream AC that was inspired by Mrs. Kennedy. It's impossible to not look with admiration and awe when you see those aircraft shooting practice approaches as I get to do often where I live. It is a paint scheme that has survived the test of time when many many airlines versions have failed to do so. The new livery is much like many of those airlines attempts from back in the 70's and 80's. They didn't age well. Additionally it is just a rehash of the look of Trumps own -57, not very creative. It looks ok but but it will not turn heads for decades to come, and it will not stand out on short final or on the ramp like the current look. It will just blend in. I think I'm being generous here too. I've set aside my political opinions in thinking about and evaluating this topic...for years now.

If you'd bother to verify things before you speak, you would know that several high-ranking government officials are *required* to fly on a government plane, even for personal business, due to security and communications reasons. The FBI director is one of those people.

Besides, it was a business trip, the reasons for which you can look up yourself. The fact that he went to a hockey game in the evening is important, why?

The DHS plan is being leased with plans to buy, and will serve a dual purpose. I think owning it is more cost effective than a perpetual lease. You're free to disagree.

I don't like the look of the vertical stabilizer,
though I can't exactly say why.
On the 747 it's so large that all that white with just a flag looks empty.
The current livery,
with the blue leading edge
and the small sweep along the bottom connecting it to the body of aircraft,
feels more solid yet dynamic.

The current VC-45s have an all white tail with a much smaller flag on it, and the serial numbers.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but isn't the current paint scheme meant to make the aircraft less easy to see against the sky?

Paint it the Orange of his face or Gold it would then stand out more and the people will see it up there and bow down as it passes over. That would please his overinflated Ego.

Indictments, convicted felon,TDS,OMG ...use whatever words and terms you like but the bottom line is Trump is an egotistical deranged maniac who is an embarassment to the U.S and a danger to world order. One mention of Trump on an otherwise innocent aeroplane blog and you get pages and pages of mixed comments all barbed with frustration and anger.A surefire indication of the mess that Trump has got the US into. The world looks on in anxious disbelief as the US continues to bury itself.....laughable if not so serious.

lol..yep typical Trunp.....highlight the stats that you think are making America great and blindly overlook the glaringly obvious downsides to Trumps egocentical decision making.Live in your own deluded world but you dont fool me.And BTW, I'd be more than happy to debate what is currently wrong with the UK at an appropriate time and place. However correct me if I am wrong....this current debate relates to Trump and his choice of livery for AF1 and goes on to discuss wider but relevant and linked issues regarding the man himself.Nowhere do i see the UK's economy being discussed.Facts and accuracy are everything my friend......something that Trump himself needs to learn.

Kinda like his ratings. Have a guess where they are, do entertain us? I can already see your respond, but, but…….
MichaelDealey
There are no real "negatives" here. The down-voting just people having little emotional tantrums based on uninformed ideology. They down-vote because they really don't have an informed reply.

And there's no "but". As I said above, if you actually believe ratings polls, you're setting yourself up for a let down. How'd the polling work out in the 2016 and 2024 elections? Polls are only as accurate as the people who rig them.

The phrasing of a question for a poll can lead a respondent to state something that is opposite of what they actually believe.

That's a good, topical reply to my question asking why powder blue represents the United States in anyway. Im sure you know those colors were chosen by Jackie Kennedy. Why should Trump not have the same ability to redesign the livery since the two latest 747's happen to be contracted during his term?

MichaelDealey
Michael Dealey -3
Being down-voted in this little partisan popularity contest is a badge of honor. It's a confirmation that most people make decisions based on emotion and herd mentality, instead of facts and independent thought. Your *opinions* are all uninformed and you have a highly noticeable mental disorder.

I'll critique SCOTUS for you. First of all, SCOTUS didn't rule against the tariffs themselves, only that IEEPA was the wrong avenue for enforcing them. If you had read the justices' opinions instead of blindly believing corporate media headlines, you'd know this.

The opinions of Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch pointed Trump in the right direction, so he will just change the criteria under which those tariffs are collected, and expand others. This really wasn't the massive defeat the corporate media is drooling over. They're just doing what they always do: lying for the sake of negative talking points.

Secondly, Tariffs alone supported this country between 1861 and 1933 and were as high as 50% across the board (the average tariff rate under Trump is 16%). The country had no national debt, a huge surplus of money, and no one paid income tax -- and no one was complaining.

SCOTUS just ignored historical precedent and voted on a partisan lines just to "get Trump". Roberts and Barrett are not conservatives, if you hadn't noticed.

So what changed? Why are tariffs suddenly a big problem?
That's easy: because Trump imposed them instead of a Democrat. Proof:

So this is all just a bunch of hypocritical bloviating from TDS stricken Democrats, who seem to have amnesia whenever it suits them.
tglass3
Tom Glass 4
What version of 1920's and 30's version of history are you reading, and does any of your information come from economists? It seems easy to glean from most sources that higher tariffs worsened the economy during the great depression. Correct me with some sources why not if available, please.
MichaelDealey
Michael Dealey -1
The great depression was engineered, designed to seize physical assets and confiscate everyone's gold. Prior to that, the American economy was booming.
alexa320
alex hidveghy 2
Of course it’s a badge of honor! You think people don’t know that?
How about flood the zone? That, too?
And yes, I know how to differentiate between a general headline and then context when reading the articles. No lecturing required, thanks.
It is still a major set back for trump because there are now signs the SCOTUS will no longer bend the knee. See what John Roberts said…..
MichaelDealey
"flood the zone"? That was the exact phrase they used during Event 201, to describe how they were going to stifle free speech and prevent "misinformatin" during Covid. In other words, drown out sane voices with a scripted narrative.
alexa320
alex hidveghy 2
Um no! It was during trump 1.0, before COVID.
Try Steve Bannon, trumps hobo advisor who did jail time even! Do try and keep up. If you can get your facts straight that is…..
alexa320
alex hidveghy 1
Stifle free speech? That’s really rich coming from a thumper!
And you also forgot who it was that coined the phrase, flood the zone - none other than trump “advisor” and strategist, Mr. Bannon! Who also did a spell of jail time for good measure. Which you might either deny or better yet, say he didn’t deserve or whatever flavor of the day you choose…..
But hey, don’t let facts and projection get in the way of your argument…..
Malignant narcissism isn’t a good place to be….
MichaelDealey
I never paid attention to Steve Bannon. He's corrupt and I don't really care who coined the phrase. It has no relationship to the comments here. The people "flooding the zone" in this forum are the Never-Trumpers.

However, that phrase was used profusely through out Event 201.

As for Steve going to jail, he deserved it. He defied a congressional subpoena. My question is why didn't the same thing happen to:

Eric Holder
Bill and Hillary
Hunter Biden
Eric Swalwell
Lois Lerner
and Bryan Pagliano

Oh, that's right. They're all Democrats. The rules don't apply.

With regard to stifling free speech, where were you in 2021 when hundreds of YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts were taken down for asking questions about, and disagreeing with, the handling of the sham pandemic? Turns out they weren't conspiracy theorists after all.

You must have heard all about this censorship campaign. It was called "The Twiiter Files". It was all kicked off by Twitter censoring an article about Hunter Biden's laptop, which ended up being proven as authentic, despite the media lying about it for months.

You keep using the word "projection" but I don't think you really know what it means.
