Delta CEO gives airline workers free travel passes as thank-you for work during pandemic
After a turbulent 2020 for the airline industry, Delta is thanking employees for their work during the pandemic with free travel. Delta CEO Ed Bastian, in a Monday memo to employees obtained by Fox News, said they would be gifted two passes for any travel destination of their choice for their work during COVID-19. Hope that includes members of the delta team that were furloughed.
Air Canada got passes extended for all laid off employees from 1 year after layoff date, extended to the end of 2022.
american airlines has done the same thing for its employees in the past(before the merger aa) for working during strikes or other conditions..this is a great thing for a corporation to do and the employees deserve it!!
That is the most amazing goodwill gesture I have ever heard of...especially during a pandemic!!
It sounds like these may be positive-space (as opposed to "non-rev" or standby travel, which in Detla's case is seniority-based so if you're on a 'buddy pass" and on the standby list, all of a sudden a 35 year captain' son or daughter shows up, checks in at the last minute and then bumps you down he list and possibly resulting in you not getting a seat).
Pre COVID, load factors were so high most of the time, I'd only give "buddy passes" to my enemies.
These are two positive space round trip tickets.
