The below freighters were ordered last year although the recent news story says jetliners. Silk Way West might be interested is keeping maintenance simple running just the 747 jetliners and freighters. Can't blame them. I prefer 4 engines any day.

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West today announced an order for three 747-8 Freighter airplanes valued at more than $1.1 billion at current list prices.

I wonder if they will be outfitted to replace the four current E-4 Nightwatch aircraft that are falling apart.

The 747 will always have it's own special place in aviation history.

Fantastic, glad to hear it. Hope there will be more orders.. Wonder who is buying them? I have heard that the US is looking to replace the Airforce One Jets?

I doubt they would order 4....

Actually the Air Force was already planning to purchase 4, simply so they ALWAYS have at least 1 if not 2 aircraft ready to fly at a moments notice. Right now with 2 they every now and then have to deal with issues of both aircraft needing maintenance at the same time. Also did anyone notice the part about the aerial refueling version, that gives away that they are working on a military one. Civilians don't have the tankers for that.

Would that have really been a surprise to Boeing though? It seems to me that, with the connections they have in government, they'd know such an order was headed for approval.
