They've had these type of rules in Europe for 20 years - doesn't fix the overall problems of crews and controllers but certainly minimizes those times when they cancel just because and provides the passenger some alternatives. With the world's largest lowest cost carriers in Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz the rules must not be too much of a burden.

saw this coming a year ago. The ridiculously low airfares encourage overbooking so that they can fill any "no-shows." Meanwhile, the airports are zoos, the airplanes are filled and smell like cattle cars, and a lot of people arrive to the airport and then don't get on. SOuthwest has management problems right now.

Yes Government can fix anything. What about ATC delays or excuses due to "staffing" issues (ATC 0)?

it's about time they are held to account for shoddy service, given all the federal subsides(i.e. our tax dollars) dolled out to the airlines.

Maybe they should try to correct the pilot shortage problem.....that they created.

Indeed, the 1500-hour rule seems to be the most significant factor in these cancellations, not the weather.

Let's cut through dancing around the problem and just pass a law declaring the airlines can never be late again. That'll fix it.

Most delays are caused by weather. Let's hold someone accountable for weather. High time to do so!

There should be a law against bad weather. That ought to fix that problem.

Airlines don’t cancel or delay flights because they just feel like it. It costs them money so they avoid it if at all possible. All old bone head will accomplish is raising the price of tickets and getting a few votes.

This could lead to increased pressure on pilots to fly in bad weather resulting in a decrease in air travel safety. Once again, the Biden administration does exactly the wrong thing.

Yeah, I’m going to kill myself and passengers to make schedule. There have been fines for delays and chronic late flights for at least a decade. Obviously leading to hundreds of fatal accidents!

The Biden Adm should first hold themselves accountable before trying to regulate private business. There is a shortage of ATC controllers and TSA agents. My wife arrived two hours prior to her flight departing from ATL a few mornings ago and almost missed her flight due to long lines at the TSA security check point. The cause of the lines was not all the screeners were open.

There have been long TSA lines at ATL (and most other major airports) since 9/11. That's not Brandon's, Pothole Pete's, nor Trump's fault.

This sort of law making incentivises flying broken airplanes and dispatching flights into bad weather.

Guess who will end up paying for all this? Another Biden blunder.

Don't complain when your airfare increases due to this additional cost.

Don't get too excited. The airlines are just going to pass the cost of the Government intervention on to the consumers-------as is always the case when the Government sticks it's nose into the business sector.
The Free-Enterprise system works very well, if left to it's own devices. The public will either turn to better carriers, or, suffer the poor service from the bad ones.

With all the problems facing this country he's worried about airline delays ?

More money needed to cover things like, say - the weather- over which the airlines have no control. That shouldn't add more than, say, $30-40 per ticket. Maybe the government can wave its magic wand and outlaw airlines going under.

It isn't legislation, it's a set of rules enacted by the Executive branch.

Yup just like when they forced the RR workers into an agreement not knowing how hard it continues to make it hard on those who work under it. And then the bs about wages they make. Know first hand about the whole deal.

When we closed the hospital I used to work at (over 400 room, Level 1 ED, Level 1 Burn and Level 1 NICU)...our common comment was "Thanks to Obama Care you have insurance"...you just no longer have a doctor or hospital. Thanks Obama! Heck, with out Obama care I would have never moved to FL and made more money than ever! AND, pay NO STATE INCOME TAX!!! Thanks Obama! I love government!

So now the airlines are responsible for the weather. Puddin’Head’ is doing a great job of driving up prices for everything, and he just added airline tickets to the list. Every ticket bought will have an invisible insurance premium included to cover the cost to this nonsense. More stupidity from a government overflowing with it.

Never ceases to amaze me how quickly these news blurbs turn to political attacks, most are right wingers it seems to me. So I’ll play along… I suspect the majority here are gullible Magas many of whom quit reading in the fifth grade and swallowed Captain Chaos’s (Trump) malarkey…. Stolen election, ersatz pandemic ‘cures’ from his science advisor Mr Bedspread, daily governing advice from his chief of staff Tucker, legal support from disbarred Rudi… I’ll take sleepy slow moving ol Brandon Joe and his staff any day.

House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., claimed on Sunday that the panel cannot track down a key informant in the Republicans' probe into the Biden family's business dealings.

Republicans have repeatedly pushed corruption allegations against the Bidens that have frustrated even Fox News hosts. "You don't have any facts," host Steve Doocy told Comer last week.

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo pressed Comer on the evidence on Sunday.

"You also spoke with an informant who gave you all of this information," she said. "Where is that informant today? Where are these whistleblowers?"

"Well, unfortunately, we can't track down the informant," Comer replied. "We're hopeful that the informant is still there. The whistleblower knows the informant. The whistleblower is very credible."

Comer added that "no president has ever been accused of the things that the Biden family's been accused of."

"Hold on a second, Congressman. Did you just say that the whistleblower or the informant is now missing?" Bartiromo interjected.

"Well, we're hopeful that we can find the informant," Comer said. "Remember, these informants are kind of in the spy business, so they don't make a habit of being seen a lot or being high profile or anything like that."

Comer added that nine of the 10 informants "that we've identified that have very good knowledge with respect to the Bidens, they're one of three things. They're either currently in court, they're currently in jail, or they're currently missing."

Bartiromo called the congressman's claim "absolutely extraordinary."

"It is stunning that some people are missing, that you need to the prove this," she said. "Just stunning. A stunning breaking news story this morning that some of these people now may be missing," she later added as she wrapped up the interview.

This is exactly what happens when virtue signaling takes priority over qualifications and those people make decisions with NO RELATIVE EXPERIENCE. But at least we all "feel good" about a gay, small town former mayor holding a Cabinet position, right?

Yes a gay, multi lingual, Harvard graduate, Rhodes Scholar, DECORATED NAVY VETERAN (Afghanistan) and management consultant for Mc Kinsey Company and mayor of the CITY of South Bend Indiana which is not a small town. Obviously not as qualified as a Reality Show Star.
