MONTREAL, Aug. 14, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada today announced the first two new routes to be operated with the Airbus A220-300, the only non-stop service between Montreal and Seattle and between Toronto and San Jose, California, both beginning in spring 2020. As well, the carrier also provided a first look at the interior features of its newest aircraft, which will offer customers a choice of Business and Economy Class service, its newest in-flight entertainment system, onboard Wi-Fi and… (aircanada.mediaroom.com) Más...

Toronto and San Jose will also be a game changer. Using such a small but mighty aircraft can do a trick that an A320 cannot do, not to offend its existence. But, I also do like the A320. They can make it more frequent by putting this popular aircraft.

The YUL to SEA is a game changer. You no longer have to connect in YVR for the hop to SEA. Airlines with these new airlines will be finanancially successful in Europe given the results of AIR BALTIC and SWISS. Other major European carriers are cashing in on the benefits of the A-220-300. Saving 20% to 25% is a lot of money when you consider the fuel burns of the third and fourth generation of aircraft. The fifth can't be touched yet as some are still having technical problems.

Definitely. The A220 is smaller but can conquer a route like this. For sure it is better than using an A320 right now.

Its excellent news that AIR CANADA will continue with an enhanced Rapidar run between YYZ and YUL and Toronto to San Jose, California. With greater reach AIR CANADA can maximize its brand security by building new routes in North America with competitive prices because of the low fuel burn and a low carbon footprint. This is part of AIR CANADAS commitment to the environment.

I hope ACA does this for Star Alliance routes too... nothing like going to Belize with United HOU to BZE on a 737.. but the first 5 hours were a Embrear 145 (united exp) or CRJ 700 (ACA exp) from CYYZ to KHOU. When those flights are full.. ugh. I’ve had to endure both. The 220 would be great for those longer runs. (WJ now goes right to Belize but my time with Tropic Air is done so.. lol..)

I just realized an error.. it was a connection in IAH.. and also my comment is dated sorry.. now Aircanada mainline flys a e190 and united mainline flys a 737.. guess there has been more traffic since 2012.. oops
