Don't forget the B-52s will still be flying in 2030, making them the oldest flying combat platform in the military at 75 years old. Already 61 years old from first active flights with the Air Force, the last one was built in 1963 making the youngest Buff 53 years old this year. The F5A was introduced in 1962 and the KC-135 was in service beginning in 1957, making both younger than the revered and feared B52. There are grandchildren of the first pilots flying the same planes and some great grandchildren may yet fly these planes before they are finally retired.

To put that in perspective, that would be about like having the F4 Phantom still in use in 2016. Although the F5A is 54 years old this year.
