Is cost-effectiveness the reason for developing this new version of the Chinook, instead of using the V-22 Osprey for the same mission?
One of the most durable and versatile helicopters in the U.S. Army inventory! I saw it come into service in the 11th Air Assault Div (Test) in Feb '64, and prove itself in Vietnam with the 1st Air Cav, and became rated in models: A - D in Sep '71.
