Wonderful. Why don't we have government do more for us--like running (or was that ruining) healthcare, etc.

Sounds more like a design problem. The Architects or Engineers must've miscalculated the length needed based on where the aircraft would have to park and where the doors on the aircraft are located. The Manufacturer of the jet bridges would have all the relevant specs and dimensions. I doubt seriously there could be such an error during construction. Door openings etc are pretty fixed dimensions in construction like that. If I'm not mistaken those jet bridges are pretty modular, so they should be able to add a section to them without it being a HUGE deal. PITA for sure, but not huge.

and just think, it was a baggage handler that probably figured it out.....while everyone else was running around panicing and trying figure out how they were going to get the passengers off the arriving flights he/she stood there for a moment and said "why don't they just pull the plane closer".

Great the planners were hard at work on this one I wonder what else they missed? Doors to the building? Roof over it that doesnt leak? Who knows but the inspectors and others should have known from the start what was required and never have had this happen for any reason. Fire everyone that had anything to do with the planning of this.

I'm glad it was something that was easy to correct. But the comments on the original web site are absolutely amazing. They include everything from Blame Obama or Bush (your choice), it's a grab for our individual freedoms by the TSA, the local politicians' ineptness, and on and on and on. Funny in a way, but also pretty pathetic and sad.

I would think that the airport consultants/design engineers are sweating bullets on this one, as they should be.
