A Ryanair flight from Romania to London Stansted was forced to make an emergency landing after the plane suddenly filled with smoke.

There were 169 passengers and four cabin crew members on board when the incident occurred on Tuesday morning. According to international media, some passengers started panicking when the smoke started flooding the aircraft. The plane was eventually forced to return to Otopeni airport and make an emergency landing.

One passenger wrote on social media: "It was very bad, the crew was quiet. We didn't even see the oxygen masks that should fall in such a condition. It was nothing and I was in real panic."

Many passengers reportedly used scarves and clothing to cover their mouths trying to get clean air. Ryanair arranged a substitute flight but some passengers refused to travel with the airline after the incident.

Ryanair said a minor technical problem caused the smoke.
