Fourteen people have died in a plane crash in Mexico, according to reports.

It's believed the private jet was taking 18 people home from Las Vegas, where they had watched Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's boxing win over Daniel Jacobs.

The crash happened in Coahuila, north Mexico, after the plane lost contact with the control tower of Aeropuerto del Norte, a private airport nearby in Monterrey.

Emergency services are at the rural, mountainous scene, scouring for casualties.

Debris from the Bombardier Challenger 601 is understood to be strewn across fields.

But local media reports 14 of the passengers, all of whom are believed to be Mexican, have died.

"Since last night (Sunday) a territorial deployment was made to alert us, until this time no local, no corporation has reported the finding," said José Luis Pliego Corona, Secretary of Public Security of Coahuila.

"Since the early hours of today, the Government of Coahuila's aircrafts fly over the area."

Three crew members were on board, though it is unknown if any of these are among those deceased.

It is believed the plane crashed in strong winds and heavy rain.

Airport officials in Las Vegas have yet to comment on the crash.

It comes after 41 people, including two children, were killed in the huge blaze on a plane in Moscow.

It happened after its landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez beat Daniel Jacobs in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Canelo, who became a three-weight world world champion last year when he moved up a division to beat Rocky Fielding, won a unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena.

"I'm just looking for the biggest fights and the biggest challenge," he said.

"That's what I want for my next fight."
