Frontier Airlines said the purchase will allow it to triple in size over the next 10 years, add 5,000 jobs.

Frontier Airlines said it's buying 134 new Airbus airplanes worth $15 billion.

The Denver-based airline said it will buy 100 A320neo planes and 34 A321neo planes from Airbus that will allow the airline to triple in size over the next 10 years.

“Today’s announcement further strengthens our long-standing relationship with Airbus ... By 2026, we will be in a position to deliver 'Low Fares Done Right' to more than 50 million passengers a year," said Barry Biffle, president and chief executive officer for Frontier Airlines, in a statement.

Frontier is the third-busiest airline at Denver International Airport, after United Airlines and Southwest Airlines.

It said the deal will add 5,000 jobs to the airline, including pilots, flight attendants and operations support.

Frontier also said it's converting its remaining 18 A319neo orders to the A320neo aircraft.

Arizona-based Indigo Partners, Frontier’s owner, made the announcement at the Dubai Air Show today when it said it was buying a total of 430 airplanes valued at a $49.5 billion list price from Airbus, which is the largest order in Airbus history.

Indigo said the other planes will be used by its JetSMART (Chile), Volaris (Mexico) and Wizz Air (Hungary) airlines.

Earlier this month, Frontier said it was adding service to three cities from Denver International Airport, part of 25 new and returning nationwide routes the airline announced.
