'We lost engine,' pilot says before crash near Burlington Mall
Single-engine plane went down in wooded area
Two people survived when their single-engine plane crashed into a marshy area near a popular shopping mall in Burlington on Wednesday.

The plane went down in a wooded area near Burlington Mall on the Middlesex Turnpike at 1:30 p.m.
The plane, a 2008 Cirrus SR22, is equipped with a parachute system that the unidentified female pilot was able to deploy.
In a call to the tower, she said the plane had a mechanical failure.
"We have an emergency. We lost the engine. We are declaring an emergency. We cannot make it to the runway," the pilot said.
"Where will you be landing?" the control tower operator asked.
"There is a field right here," the pilot said.
Three NSTAR workers who were in the area assisted firefighters with rescuing the pilot and her unidentified male passenger.
Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent said they were both taken to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center after the crash.
"The flight was on approach to the Laurence G. Hanscom Field Airport," the FAA said in a statement. "The pilot deployed the aircraft's parachute before landing."
Two weeks ago, seven people were killed when a private plane crashed as it attempted to take off at Hanscom Field in Bedford.
National Transportation Safety Board investigators said data from that flight's recorder shows the plane never lifted off the ground before it plunged into a ravine and burst into flames.
Police said the plane crashed close to a Burlington town water treatment facility, and public works crews were able to shut it down when they saw the plane crashing.
Police said there was no impact to the town's water supply.
The crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration .
