Mobile might be getting an A320 final assembly line, but Airbus workers in Broughton, United Kingdom, received a special delivery from the United States recently they won't soon forget.

The Daily Post reports four dozen suspected black widow spiders were found inside a large shipment of components that had traveled from an unidentified U.S. operation to the Flintshire factory in North Wales.

According to the report, it is believed the shipment began with two stowaways, but nature took its course, and they “procreated” during the long trip.

“Obviously we will be tracking to find out exactly how it happened and measures have been taken to ensure items imported from overseas are fumigated to avoid situations like this,” Airbus UK spokesperson Robert Gage told the Daily Post.

Black widows, so named for their notorious mating ritual in which the female eventually devours her mate, live throughout the United States and South America. The fuzzy-legged and potentially deadly tourists reportedly gave Broughton employees a fright.
