Hartsfield-Jackson is the second U.S. airport to offer service on Turkish Airlines’ new 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

Turkish Airlines’ newest aircraft – Boeing's 787-9 Dreamliner – has arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Hartsfield-Jackson is the second U.S. airport to offer service on Turkish Airlines’ new 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with two flights operating between Atlanta and Istanbul Airport, the new home of Turkish Airlines.

Istanbul Airport, which was built in just five years, looks to snag Hartsfield-Jackson's title as "world's busiest airport." Atlanta's airport has been named the world's busiest for 20 straight years. For the past three years, it's served more than 100 million passengers, the only airport to reach that mark.

Istanbul Airport started soft operations in Oct. 2018, and is expected to serve 90 million passengers annually, jumping to 200 million at its completion in 10 years. That's almost double the traffic of Atlanta's airport.

Turkish Airlines has a fleet of 333 aircraft, serving 307 destinations in 124 countries from Istanbul Airport. The carrier has recently focused a lot of attention on its Boeing (NYSE: BA) 787 fleet, an aircraft that will play a big role in its future.

“With the addition of the 787-Dreamliner, Turkish Airlines is thrilled to provide a truly unparalleled experience for our passengers in Atlanta," Turkish Airlines' Atlanta General Manager Umit Develi said in an announcement. "We are not only excited for passengers to experience the aircraft’s advanced technology and modern cabin design, but also to expand our presence in an airport known for drawing record-breaking numbers of travelers from around the world.”

Turkish Airlines’ Dreamliner 787-9 has a seating capacity for 300 passengers, including 270 economy class seats and 30 business class seats. Its business class seats offer direct aisle access to all passengers, multi-functional full-flat seats, in-flight amenity kits, 18-inch entertainment screens and self-care mirrors with tilt functions.

Boeing's Dreamliner fleet is regarded for its advanced fuel efficiency and range flexibility.
