Taxiing in to the terminal with a few other classics in the background. Never did get a good pic of a VC-10!

Another *****+ post, Gavin. Great shot! Thx for sharing. This one had two names during its PAA career. First, it was "Clipper Morning Light." Later, it was renamed to "Clipper Nor'wester." I can't quite read which name is on it in this pic. I think it says, "Jet Clipper Nor'wester" but I'm not positive.

Thanks Gary. I've done SOME research on the name. There is a pic at Sydney 1968 stating the name as 'Morning Light' and appears to be 2 words after 'Clipper'. Then there's another pic at JFK 1978 stating the name as 'Morning Light' and again appears to be two distinct words after 'Clipper'. Then you get my pic from 71 which makes it appear there's only one word after 'Clipper' suggesting Nor'wester (one drawback of the Instamatic!). Only one record I searched mentioned a name and that was Nor'wester. Someone might know.

Within a few years after this shot was taken around'71, Pan Am lost a couple of B707's in our region. One was on her descent into Bali coming from the north (ex HKG) and the other one was landing into Pago Pago in American Samoa at a very heavy landing weight and poor weather. But I don't know if this PA Clipper N495PA was involved in either of those accidents...

Chris, according to planelogger.com, this was scrapped September 4, 1983 after a few changes of ownership, so it ended its working life as we hope all planes do - well utilised.

Okay, thanks Gavin. That's good to know for the sake of this PA Clipper's memory.

Brings back some memories. Flew on a Pan Am 707 from Lisbon to JFK back in '72.
