This is a really superb atmospheric shot. And taken from an original KC135 with P&W straight turbojet engines. No bypass ratio involved. I wonder what was their IAS at the time? I know that the single seat delta wing Mirage 3 fighter as operated by the RAAF did not like being flown slower than 300 Knots IAS. But probably the F4 was a bit more flexible, even tho' the Phantom was more than double the weight of the Dassault.
