Does anyone know why Russian airplanes, both military and commercial in Soviet Union times, had glass blisters in the nose? Were they for military purposes? They certainly gave wonderful views.

Jim, they were built that way so they could be used as bombers in short notice. They have small Bombay doors too but only if necessary
