As more detailed photographs from the crash scene are emerging, Dutch officials said that the country would take the lead in the investigation of the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17. Everybody is talking about a contaminated crash scene, but there doesn't appear to be much doubt left that it was shot down, what with all the intel from around the world. The big question is going to be whodunnit and no amount of investigation will nail that down, I don't think, unless somebody gets thrown under the bus.

I agree. Pretty sure we know what caused this crash. It's nothing like the "usual" plane crashes where an investigation is necessary to determine the why of the crash.

Um, well, someone did dunnit. Therefore it is entirely possible to nail it down, given a proper investigation. Everything leaves its mark and everything can be traced. The evidence already overwhelmingly points to Russian separatists, given that missiles capable of taking down a relatively slow airplane flying at airliner altitude (which really isn't that high, considering what military air defenses are designed to shoot at) have been reported in the hands of the separatists in the area of the crash by Russian sympathizers, of all people. The fact that those same people also claim that, even though they saw the missiles, it's still impossible for the separatists to have shot the plane down, only serves to demonstrate the finely honed quality of modern Russian propaganda, which has been blasting the airwaves nonstop since this incident. Russia says it was a Ukrainian jet. How they know that... Right. Funny how the story their captive audience hears differs so greatly from what the West is hearing from Russia.

This is really not that much of a mystery.

Well, you are correct in that someone dunnit and it is pretty much narrowed down to the separatists or at least will be laid to their charge. But which of them did it and was it accidental or on purpose is what needs to be determined. That said, a 777 is down and nearly 300 innocent souls dead. I hate to quote Hillary, but "What Difference Does It Make"

On top of everything else, everybody was expecting 200+ bodies on that train. Seems they are about 100 short. That would mean to me that there are still a bunch out there or of course, we must accept the possibility that some may never be found.

This is good... Hopefully we only get one version of the CVR/FDR
