Touchscreen windows, plush wraparound sofas and hardwood floors: Mercedes-Benz designs the ultimate private jet for VIPs
- The luxury car manufacturer has teamed up with the German airline on a sleek design for their executive jets
- Currently only a concept, it was unveiled in Geneva this week at the European Business Aviation Convention
- Several elements of the Mercedes S-Class are incorporated, including touchscreen control technology
It is a brand more associated with plush cars and sleek interiors.
But Mercedes-Benz has turned its hand to private jet design, and the results will have the super-rich reaching for their wallets.
The iconic car designer teamed up with airline Lufthansa Technik, to create an aircraft for VIPs that comes complete with hardwood floors, plush wraparound sofas, reclining white leather seats, and even a double bed.
Mercedes-Benz and Lufthansa Technik have teamed up to create the ultimate luxury cabin design for the airline's executive jets
But don't expect to see this sleek design concept on commercial flights just yet - it's currently only in development for the airline's fleet of short and medium haul executive jets.
The design, though still just a concept, was unveiled in Geneva this week at the 2015 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition.
'Our goal is to offer a highly discerning global clientele a standard of interior design that leaves nothing to be desired,' Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice President VIP and Executive Jet Solutions for Lufthansa, said, reports Mashable.
'Whether for private or business use, our modular completion concept perfectly fits every purpose.'
Such an 'organic and homogeneous' design all but eliminates any separation between ceiling, wall and floor, instead allowing the aircraft's structures to 'flow into each other.'
The designs include stunning hardwood floors and plush leather seating areas, including fully reclining chairs
Sleek black and white accents complete the design, which also incorporate plush wraparound sofas and a two-person bed
Touchscreen technology will also play a key role in the future of luxury aviation, with window panes doubling as infotainment controls
Soothing glowing blue aquariums are another luxurious touch to the 'organic and homogeneous' design concept

Car enthusiasts will recognise several signature design elements of Mercedes' S-Class, which do make an appearance on board.
Namely, windows concealed by black panels that also boast touchscreen technology to control the plane's infotainment system.
And just in case the futuristic design isn't enough to captivate your attention, a glowing blue aquarium is another extravagant touch sure to win over even the most selective flyers.
