JetBlue Launches New York-Havana Service
New York-Based Carrier First to Operate Route Since Easing of Travel Restrictions
JetBlue Airways, in partnership with Cuba Travel Services, announced the start of service linking New York and Havana on Friday.
Flights will depart New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at noon on Fridays and arrive at José Martí International Airport in Havana at 3:30 p.m. Flights from Havana to New York will depart at 4:30 p.m., also on Fridays, and arrive at 8:00 p.m.
The move makes JetBlue the first major carrier to operate this route since travel restrictions were eased, and the route will be the carrier’s fifth weekly round-trip service to the island nation.
JetBlue will operate the service using Airbus A320 aircraft, configured with 42 seats in Even More Space, the airline’s premium economy lite section, and 108 seats in coach. Premium economy lite-seats are 17.8” wide, and have a pitch of 38” to 39”.
Cuba Travel Services currently offers weekly nonstop charter flights between the United States and the Cuban cities of Havana, Cienfuegos, Camaguey, Santa Clara, and Santiago de Cuba. The charter operator provides service through flights operated by American Airlines and Sun Country Airlines.
